Still Playing with 2.0

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more
I'm still having fun with the various image generators and thought this was particularly appropriate in light of Quincy's "Great Escape" on Monday! He looks like a hardened escape artist - when in fact he's a real softy - and loves sleeping under the down blanket!

Not-So-Secret-Vice

I love iGoogle and actually have four tabs on my page - the main page (with my Google Reader, weather, and some gadgets that let me know how many months/days to particular events), a tab with with Gmail (which I can "preview" from a city computer but not read), a tab with news - BBC, Washington Post, Drudge, MSNBC, and a tab labeled FUN.

That's where my secret vice is - People.com - Top Headlines - all the news that keeps me up to date with what the celebrities are doing - like, it's REALLY important for me to know what that scamp Britney's up to now!! But it's addictive! I find myself reading it almost every day and, for those days when I don't read it, there are always the archives so I can catch up!

Oh well - I've admitted it - I'm a closet celebrity junkie! Could be worse!

Superbowl

Ok - I admit that I watched some of the Superbowl - the commercials! I got pretty good at switching back and forth between the program I was watching and the game just in time to see the ads!

On each visit for commericals I saw the score and was, frankly, amazed that it stayed so close the entire time! And when I switched over toward the end I had to stay - and yes, I did see the final touchdown! CONGRATULATIONS Giants!!

P.S. - My favorite commercials were the Coke ads (Charlie Brown and then the Republican/Democrat) and the Budweiser add with the Clydesdale training. After those came the screaming animals for Bridgestone tires and the dancing lizards (Thriller) for SoBe water!

Thanks!!

I'm so excited - a friend said that my room would be added to the list of rooms she's going to paint!! . . . there was something else about turning blue . . . but as you see THAT's not a problem!

(PS I was going to add this as a comment on her blog - but there's a problem with too much HTML in comments!!)

Countdown

As you see I've added a countdown calendar to my blog - a countdown to the end of political ads, "debates" and endless commentary on the candidates!

Election day can't come too soon for me!!

I have yet to see any debate - I try to avoid all commentary - which is almost impossible because I do watch the news and some of the Sunday talk shows (Meet the Press, Face the Nation, etc.). It's a trial sometimes but luckily the remote is usually close by!

I will say, though, that I do sometimes watch Countdown with Keith Olberman - especially if he's having a "special comment."

I'm sure most people are aware that Mr. Olberman has no love for the Bush administration or Fox News - so if you're particularly fond of either of those please don't click on the link! (That's why I only provided the link and didn't imbed the video!!)

To the Rescue . . . . .

It was our Little Green Machine to the rescue today as a customer's LARGE bottle of liquid laundry detergent spilled! Luckily it was in a spot normally covered by the legs of a table so it will be able to dry, luckily it smells REALLY nice and luckily I was able to stop the customer from trying to pick up the gooey stuff with paper towels!

Unfortunately, the liquid laundry detergent is extremely thick and didn't get into the machine but stayed in the non-detachable hose!! (Note to Bissel - please make the hoses detachable!!). SO, after getting all the detergent out of the carpet, I took Little Green to the lounge - ran water into the sink and repeatedly sucked up water and emptied suds from the intake container!

Took a little while but eventually the hose was clear, the intake container didn't have suds and the lounge smelled REALLY good too!!

And they say there's no fun in libraries!!

The End of History Was Written . . .

And no one told me it was over and done - SIGH

This is why I get my news from the Daily Show!!

And people wonder why my expectations are so low!

Reading Makes a Comeback??!!

At least according to the Onion!! A 27 year old passes up TV, the Internet and sleeping to actually READ an entire book!!

What is the world coming to??!!!

Someone - who shall remain nameless - thinks that my "little" Quincy is going to look like this before too long!

I THINK NOT!!

He has "filled out" some since coming inside from under the house - but he's not FAT!

Quincy

Quincy
Quincy,
originally uploaded by VBDiane.
This is a terrible picture of the Q Man but it was one that was on the flash drive I had at work!! So - while I was creating a Flickr account, and uploading pictures (for some reason the work computer would let me upload photos fine but not a separate icon for my account). It forced me to upload the photo and then move over to the icon - not impossible but more work!

I like Flickr - I like all the photos but I'm not a good picture taker (and I certainly don't want MY picture up there more than absolutely necessary) so I'm not sure how much I'll use it. I do have some pictures on my MySpace page too - so many pages so little time for upkeep!!

Tagging is critical and I love the fact that I'm not constricted by pre-determined tagging. I add lots of words in hopes I will be able to find what I'm looking for again! SIGH!

Shopping - UGH

Today was the first time I've been to a mall (actually walking around and shopping) for over two years - and I remember why!

Too many people, too frantic, too much noise (screaming children, yelling children, discordant music - some Christmas, some rock).

I did some shopping online before going to the mall - MUCH nicer way to shop! Oh well, I have more trips to make!

Happy Holidays!

Pets at Thanksgiving

I've been remiss - probably because of all the moving and stuff - but I wanted to let everyone know how the cats and dog got along on Thanksgiving.

It was actually quite funny. Quincy & Cleo were hanging out - Quincy on the ottoman in the family room, Cleo on the floor next to the sofa. The doorbell rang - Scott, Michelle and 7 arrived. 7 was somewhat of a surprise because I'd been told she was probably going to stay home! But she's a good girl and always welcome!

Quincy took one look and bolted for upstairs - hardly touching the stairs on the way up! Cleo, who met 7 last year, actually walked up to 7 and went nose to nose. She (Cleo) carefully raised one paw and barely reached out to 7 - they were bonding!

Cleo then turned her back on the dog and walked into the kitchen. 7 being the curious dog she is walked up behind Cleo to do the "doggy hello". Cleo looked like a ninja! All 20 pounds of her went straight up, did a 180 degree turn and slapped that dog right across the face with a hiss and a spit!

7 was, of course, startled and backed up (momentarily). Cleo bolted for upstairs (and her other enemy - Quincy). 7 started to follow but was called back!! She promptly forgot about cats and focused more on turkey, ham and other goodies!

I later went looking for the cats (since they hadn't been down for a long time) and found them both under the king-size bed - one under the upper right corner and one under the lower left corner! They were turned away from each other under the premise that if they couldn't see each other it was ok!

Once 7 (and Scott & Michelle) went home, both cats came downstairs and went immediately to their food bowls!

It was a very funny moment - and a bit of excitment in a relatively quiet day (if you don't count the football games which I don't!!).

PS - in case anyone's wondering - 7 is not named for the character on Star Trek - her name comes from the fact that she is pet number 7 for my son!
